Conservatives Intentionally Making Their Cars Spew Black Smoke To Stick It To Obama, Liberals

Meet the newest form of Conservative protest: Coal runners. It’s also highly disrespectful to everyone around them and the planet they/we live on. Conservatives in pickup trucks intentionally pour out black smoke into the air, for freedom and stuff. They do this to stick it to liberals and Obama. Seriously.

“Coal Rollers” are diesel trucks modified with chimneys and equipment that can force extra fuel into the engine causing dark black smoke to pour out of the chimney stacks. These modifications are not new, but as Slate’s Dave Weigel pointed out on Thursday, “rolling coal” has begun to take on a political dimension with pickup drivers increasingly viewing their smokestacks as a form of protest against environmentalists and Obama administration emissions regulations, according to Business Insider.

Even worse, this form of protest is gaining in popularity.

Business Insider reports:

Last month, Vocativ noted many coal rollers focus their fumes on “nature nuffies,” or people who drive hybrids, and “rice burners,” or Japanese-made cars.

“The feeling around here is that everyone who drives a small car is a liberal,” a roller named Ryan told Vocativ. “I rolled coal on a Prius once just because they were tailing me.”

Weigel spoke to a seller of coal rolling customization equipment who described why some drivers see spewing smoke as a political protest.

“I run into a lot of people that really don’t like Obama at all,” the salesperson said. “If he’s into the environment, if he’s into this or that, we’re not. I hear a lot of that. To get a single stack on my truck—that’s my way of giving them the finger. You want clean air and a tiny carbon footprint? Well, screw you.”

On a Facebook  page which is dedicated to this new form of protest, they’ve garnered about 16,000 followers and over 100,000 rolling coal posts have appeared on Instagram and Tumblr.

With this explosion in online attention, the battles between coal rollers and their environmentalist enemies are playing out in social media pages, Youtube videos and internet comment sections. Many of the rolling coal Facebook pages feature memes (like the one pictured on the right) that mock hybrid drivers and liberals. Coal rollers have also posted videos showing their trucks blasting more environmentally efficient cars with smoke.

Opponents of the practice have also taken to the internet. Weigel noted “a mid-June surge of comments” from progressives attacking coal rolling social media pages in the wake of the Vocativ article. In 2012, one outraged YouTube user posted a video entitled “Victim Of Coal Rolling” that showed a pickup shooting fumes at his car.

“Blow your smoke at me you son of a bitch,” the driver says in the video.

Comments on the pickup driver’s side of the argument weighed in.

Because, Confederate coal.

One alleged human replied, “What a loser you are, ain’t nothing wrong with rolling some confederate coal.”

“Stupid ricers. what were you gonna do you bitch?” another supposed human chimed in.

Conservatives are just awful people. Case in point:

“This is hilarious. And it freedom of expression – lefties want to make everyone drive small underpowered vehicles,” one YouTube commenter wrote. “This is a protest to that ideology, and it’s beautiful.”

It’s OK. When we’re done with this planet, we can go to that other inhabitable planet. Oh wait….

I’ve often wondered it Mars is where we started.

I’m pretty sure that’s where Republicans come from.

Well, it was named after a god, and the god of war at that. I’m still hoping that Newt makes good on his moon colony.

From your lips to God’s ear. I wish Newt would take a one-way trip and take his colleagues with him. There, I said it.

Say it loud–say it proud. Why not? He brought it up as a real thing. Haven’t heard anymore lately though.

They are starting it here in Maine. They won’t be grunting gleefully when this Harley rider tosses a six pack of rotten eggs in their ass end and open windows the next time I get hit with their pollutants. Bitch about it and they will get my billywhacker on their quarter panels – dents don’t wash out.

    • William July 6th, 2014 at 11:40

I live in Maine as well. Modification of exhaust systems is illegal. Then of course there is

      §501-A. Disorderly conduct

      1. A person is guilty of disorderly conduct if:

      A. In a public place, the person intentionally or recklessly causes annoyance to others by intentionally:

      (1) Making loud and unreasonable noises;

      (2) Activating a device, or exposing a substance, that releases noxious and offensive odors; or

That’s arrestable when it occurs in the presence of a police officer.

I love that you looked this one up for us, thank you! Sadly there’s never a cop around when you need one.

        • William July 8th, 2014 at 14:27

True (former cop here). If that happens to you, calmly record the license number. If it’s safe to do so take a video, and report it to the authorities. At the very least the operator will get a call and or visit which can be motivating unto itself. Even warnings are generally electronically logged and should the suspect get stopped again it would pop up. Recording the event is important.

That’s what makes being a criminal so cool. I’ve got a gun, an illegal as hell gun, and you don’t. You’re defenseless, your helpless. What’s that you say, what? Guns are illegal? LOL!!! I’m a criminal remember?

The cops come along later, to tag your toe and write up a report.

Keep working to disarm the law abiding, that’s a brilliant strategy.

  10. mea_mark July 6th, 2014 at 10:51

If they do that to someone with asthma that may die, can they stand their ground and shoot the bastards for trying to kill them? These idiots better be careful. Intentionally pissing people off by hurting them can have serious consequences.

    • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:20

I’m hoping that they keep it up and turn the tide of public opinion against themselves. They’re doing such a wonderful job with women and minorites–might as well alienate everybody who wants to breathe clean air. Didn’t “conservatives” used to actually want to CONSERVE things? Like the National Park System, the Clean Air Act…

I hope it’s about as well-received as open-carry in the toy aisle.

I want to add this illegal in some states, even here in Texas.

    • uzza July 6th, 2014 at 13:01

Got arrested for this once in SLC. Car blew a piston and on the way home the cops stopped me for making too much blue smoke. Said I’d “already caused one accident”. My calling him a lying asshole might have had something to do with whatever the charges were. Nowadays I’d prolly be killed, though the cops seem to have a strange aversion to busting right wing heads.

Thank you coal burners for paying over and beyond your share of taxes.
They aint that smart but their money sure spends, I support their stupidity.

    • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 12:17

I just wish that we could make them do it under a ventilation hood. In my town the tour buses are enough to make you gag, and they are complying with the law.

      • craig7120 July 6th, 2014 at 12:46

I’ve seen these guys for sometime now, I’m not a 100% positive it has anything to do with a political statement. They sure spend lots of money on gas and parts which that tax money helps the infrastructure. Their little puffs hardly make a dent in what I would call a ecological event. Like JJ said, being an assshole is just who some people are, sit back and watch an episode of evolutions ugly stepbrother.

        • ChrisVosburg July 6th, 2014 at 13:21

Yeah, it sort of grew out of monster truck culture, in which taking up three parking spaces with your big-ass ride is considered a badge of honor.

The rest of us consider it a badge of dickitude.

        • M D Reese July 6th, 2014 at 21:29

They don’t get to force others to put up with their smoke. I used to have to breathe a lot of diesel smoke from idling tour buses in the downtown area where I worked outdoors. It will make you sick. Ironically, the freakin tourists come here for the wilderness and fresh air.

          • craig7120 July 6th, 2014 at 23:39

I feel ya, obnoxious morons the lot. I support stupidity, if they want to collect pollution tickets, spend their hard earned money on gas and trinkets I’m not gonna stand in their way with a green peace sign, just sayin.

These can be impounded by police in many states for a number of reasons. You cannot tamper with factory emission equipment. Most cars have to pass emission tests and have current stickers. Do this in front of a cop and you’ll at least get a ticket.
