Pope: No-Work Sundays Good For All, Even If You’re Not Faithful

Posted by | July 5, 2014 12:15 | Filed under: Good News Religion Top Stories

Pope Francis preaches not just to his flock, but extends his message to all, which is what is so beautiful about this Pope. He wants the best for everyone.

Francis said the priority should be “not economic but human,” adding “maybe it’s time to ask ourselves if working on Sundays is true freedom.”

He also said that spending Sundays with family and friends is an “ethical choice” for faithful and non-faithful alike.

We all need a break now and then to recharge so we can be more productive overall. Doing it with friends and family is one of the best ways to do it.

Horseshit. Did he want the best for Savita Halappanavar who died in Galway , or the 11-year old rape victim who died in Chile because HIS CHURCH wouldn’t let them get abortions?

Yes, he’s a charismatic leader who says nice things, so was Pol Pot. It doesn’t bring their victims back to life.

Poor, poor Savita,……… who would be here today if people would only work a 7-day week……

Doesn’t the Pope work on Sunday? Just asking.

    The Pope is right.
People need at least one day off during the week. For decades I have worked in the rather demanding field of construction. I have worked 7-day weeks for months on end as well as 14 or more hour days and once did this till I worked myself into a breakdown.
Giving people at least a day off each week is a good thing. They will be more productive in the long run and will have happier lives.

I don’t know how the popes at the time viewed it, but it was FDR who gave us weekends and the 40 hour work week. These were good things.
