Joan Rivers Storms Off CNN

Posted by | July 5, 2014 23:17 | Filed under: Media/Show Business News Behaving Badly Top Stories

It seemed as though Fredricka Whitefield was having fun with Joan Rivers, but Joan Rivers wasn’t having fun back. Whitfield thought Rivers was joking or, at least, stunting, by walking off. But, apparently, the comedian, who pierces the skin of others, is rather think-skinned herself.

The interview, which aired on Saturday, shows Whitfield asking Rivers questions about her wearing fur on the cover of her book, as well as her infamous criticizing of celebrity fashion on the red carpet. Animal rights activists had protested Rivers’ book event at a Barnes & Noble last week.

“I’m going, I’m really going. All you’ve done is negative. I’ve made people laugh for fifty years,” she reacts to Whitfield aggressively. “My book is funny!” she then adds. Meanwhile, Whitfield looks bemused by Rivers’ anger as the comedian pulls her earpiece out and walks off.

Arguably, this is the most exciting thing that’s happened on CNN in quite some time.

I’ve NEVER thought that Joan Rivers was funny. It’s just grade school scatological potty-mouth.

Never liked her or her daughter.

Little cries for attention–or help maybe. They’re like that other parent-child dynamic duo, Dick and Liz Cheney.

The humor Joan indulges in is not that sophisticated and apparently she can’t take as good as she gives.

She has been a pioneer for women in comedy and in show business. I don’t blame her for getting angry at the constant potshots.

Don’t dish it if you can’t take it. That is all.

        You make a good point!

I did like the comeback by joan when she suggested Don’t judge me until you wear a paper belt.
Give credit where credit is due

Joan. like Don Rickles, could be wickedly funny or horribly tasteless. It does seem to be rather hypocritical for an insult comic to be so touchy, but she IS 567 in dog years so I’ll cut her some slack.

I’m with Joan on this one. The interviewer had an agenda. . She wanted to put Rivers on the defensive and she succeeded. Joan is right, she’s been doing comedy for a long time. She doesn’t need to sit through an interrogation of her career.

joan rivers and don rickles both made a living from comedy focused on racist and sexist punch lines … no one under 50 thinks they are funny, and a whole lot of people older than that never liked their vitriol … all they accomplish when they continue to spew distasteful remarks is to become even more dislikable …
