South Dakota Republican Party Fed Up With Obama Acting Like He’s The President

Posted by | June 22, 2014 11:35 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

Republicans in South Dakota passed a resolution to impeach President Barack Obama. This is something totally new. Republicans have never talked about this except for the eleventy hundred times they did.

The only thing missing in the wingnut resolution is Obama’s middle name in Republican caps: HUSSEIN.  Their reasoning for impeachment this time, is Bowe Bergdahl.

On Saturday, this happened.

Via Crooks and Liars:

The resolution says Obama has “violated his oath of office in numerous ways.” It specifically cites the release of five Taliban combatants in a trade for captive U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl, Obama’s statement that people could keep insurance companies, and recent EPA regulations on power plants.

“Therefore, be it resolved that the South Dakota Republican Party calls on our U.S. Representatives to initiate impeachment proceedings against the president of the United States,” the resolution reads.

Allen Unruh of Sioux Falls sponsored the resolution.

“I’ve got a thick book on impeachable offenses of the president,” Unruh said, calling on South Dakota to “send a symbolic message that liberty shall be the law of the land.”

Delegates voted 191-176 in favor of the resolution. The Pennington County delegation voted 47-9 in favor of the impeachment resolution, and Minnehaha County voted 28-15 in favor. Read on…

The article goes on to describe their lone House member, Rep. Kristi Noem, as being “cool to the resolution” and pointing out that it’s a massive waste of time. No mention of her daring to tell any of them that they’re out of their gourd if they really believe that President Obama should be impeached for the Bergdahl prisoner swap, saying people could keep their insurance, or EPA regulations.

They don’t need no stinkin’ regulations or POWs coming home! Republicans are fed up with Obama acting like he won an election or two.

Imagine if about a 1,000 people, most black folks but welcomng to all like minded people, heavily armed, traveled to South Dakota, set up camp close to the offices of the South Dakota Republican party and their Congressional Representative, within the firing range of their weapons and declared that they would use force of arms to prevent a tyrannical government from nullifying their votes by removing a twice elected President from office.

Any of you Cliven Bundy apologists care to explain how the people in my hypothetical scenario would be any different than those who gathered on Bundy’s behalf?

Republicans would have them arrested and demonized in the right wing media.

      Im in!
I dont think weapons are needed, a few black people should be enough to make conservatives run like skeeered rabbits. Afterwards can we go fossil hunting in the badlands? Please

Seriously, outside of the old white guys out there are there good fossils you can get and legally take home? If so then count me in!

many thanks to all the likers.

looks like we have finally found the line where even right wingers cannot defend their innate hypocrisy. now if we could just get them to stop being hypocrites at all.

Freeing POW Bowe Bergdahl is just American Taliban xenophobia. Americans who like their insurance can keep it under Obamacare-via Executive Order extending Non ACA compliant consumer HC policies through 2017. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/06/us/politics/obama-extends-renewal-period-for-noncompliant-insurance-policies.html?_r=0 And SCOTUS already ruled valid the Environmental Protection Agency CO2 regulations to cut carbon dioxide emissions from existing power plants.

Clearly those astroturfed Koch bros devotees don’t read anything accurate: -I’ve got a thick book on impeachable offenses of the president-“The 35 Articles of Impeachment and the Case for Prosecuting George W. Bush”-by Congressman Dennis Kucinich grabbed the bull by the horns and put forward 35 Articles of Impeachment before the U.S. Congress in June 2008. Most recently Gohmert / Stockman failed to provide any admissible Issa impeachment evidence or momentum. http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2014/06/22/3451746/south-dakota-gop-impeach-obama/

Let me see if I understand. It’s better to leave an American soldier in the hands of captors who don’t observe the Geneva Convention’s rules than it is to release US military captives a few months earlier than the Geneva Convention’s rules require. US insurance companies spent a lot of the money that people paid them for heath coverage to keep from being legally bound to provide health coverage. They “hired” members of Congress to help them pull a dirty trick (cancelling health insurance policies) in the hopes that it would unravel the ACA. And the President did a wrong thing by citing the rules before those insurance companies broke them? And folks in South Dakota would rather pay to support and care for fellow citizens (including children) who get sick from for-profit power plants than pay a little more for electricity. I understand that it’s hard to swallow. A poor boy from an interracial marriage had the audacity to not only become successful, but to become the leader of the free world. How about if we just let them rewrite the history books to say that Barack Obama was elected to office in 2008 and 2012, but that it didn’t really count?

Never think that the hack Republicans who run this backwater called S. Dakota aren’t as stupid, backward, vicious and underhanded as the rest of the Republican held states in the country. This is one of the most egregious things the hacks in Pierre have done in recent memory. You’d think people here would be furious, but they’re not, because they are NOTHING but stupid, brain dead fools who refuse to vote for anyone but the GOP in every election, even without knowing the issues. They don’t care about facts; they care ONLY that a candidate has an “R” after their name on a ballot, that’s all. This state, like other Red states, is full of racists and bigots who think the last two elections don’t count because a black man won twice in a row. It’s shameful, but few here possess the intelligence to realize that.
