Disabled Vet Asked To Leave Store Because Of His Service Dog

A Texas veteran was asked to leave Walgreens because of his service dog.

Christopher Goodson, who served with the United States Marine Corps, said the altercation happened on Thursday at the store in Mesquite. When Goodson walked in to buy a drink, the manager told him to “get the dog out.”

Goodson said, “He could have walked up and discreetly asked me, ‘Is this a service dog?’”

According to KDFW, Goodson said he explained that his dog Ben is a service dog, but the manager still refused to sell him anything because Ben wasn’t wearing a vest.

Goodson said he also showed the manager his dog’s special tag and ID card. “Everything I was telling him, he was just blowing it off,” said Goodson. The disabled Vet also said the manager confronted him three times, then followed him around the store before asking him to leave.

The Americans with Disabilities Act does not require service dogs to wear a special vest of any sort. In addition, Goodson said his service dog was not wearing a vest because it was so hot outside.

Walgreens says it will educate its employees on this issue.

First Target, then Home Depot, now Walgreens. Let’s just boycott them.

Is it so hard for some of these managers to make a decision on their own? You’d think critical thinking skills would be a requirement.

Please. Do some research and see if this vet is worthy of starting a boycott (google: “marine shoots Golden Retriever”). Retail managers do not have degrees in psychiatry. People lie and fake their right to have their pets with them all of the time. Give the manager a break, he acted like a decent human, which is more than Goodson can say. The vet needs to take a chill pill and stop whining like a baby about how he was “embarrassed” – he’s the one who started screaming and cussing then posted it on the internet for all to see. Man up Marine.
