Soldier Trashing Bergdahl Received ‘Other Than Honorable’ Discharge

Posted by | June 5, 2014 22:54 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories War & Peace

Josh Korder, a former Army sergeant from Minnesota who served with Bowe Bergdahl, signed a non-disclosure agreement, and admits he may be in violation of that by speaking out. He also left the service with an “other than honorable” discharge.

He came forward Monday claiming Bergdahl deserted his post and shouldn’t be celebrated.

“Any of us would have died for him while he was with us and then for him to just leave us like that, it was a very big betrayal,” Korder said in an earlier interview with CNN.

Korder believes Bergdahl walked away from his post and isn’t the hero he’s being hailed…

“He is at best a deserter, and at worst a traitor,” Korder said in an earlier interview with CNN…

Korder did sign a nondisclosure agreement about this situation. His family told WCCO he knows the risk he’s taking by talking.

Korder was recently discharged, which was listed as “other than honorable.”

I don’t understand the folks that need to talk after signing a NDA.

I appreciate and understand that everyone is entitled to their opinions and have a right to voice those opinions. That’s the great thing about being an American! However, can I just clear somethings up first the NDA that is being talked about was a gag order while Bergdahl was in captivity it is no longer valid, and second Korder did not receive a other than honorable discharge. He received a General under HONORABLE conditions…. He had a Stellar record with the military receiving multiple awards including
Purple Heart: For wounds received in action
Army Commendation medal with ‘V’ Device: For courage and outstanding action in combat
2 Army Commendation medals: For superior service and unparalleled professionalism
Army Good Conduct Ribbon: For 3 years continuous service without any negative actions
3 Army Achievement medals: For various outstanding actions which merited recognition
Certificate of Achievement: For graduating in the top 10% in the Army Non Commissioned Officer Academy
Combat Infantryman’s Badge: For participating in an actual combat situation as an infantryman
Airborne Wings: For graduating Army Airborne School
    And many many more!
Thank you for reading. I just wanted to let everyone know that there is a lot of false things being said. And I do appreciate and value everyone’s right to freedom of speech. :) I hope I’m not offending anyone. And if anyone has any questions I am willing to answer any and all of them. :)

A General under Honorable Conditions and an Other Than Honorable both have something in common…while both are nonpunitive discharges, as is an Honorable Discharge, neither is an Honorable Discharge. The usual reason that you don’t get an Honorable after 180 days of service is that no one felt like doing the paperwork to process a punitive discharge. Mine, BTW, was Honorable.

Just walking away while in a combat zone requires no further explanation.
