The NRA Slams Open Carry Groups In Texas, Calls Them ‘Weird’ (via FreakOutNation)

There is nothing more telling of the Open Carry groups in Texas than to have the National Rifle Association call them ‘weird’. In this one instance, I agree with the NRA and I’ll probably never be able to say that again. The NRA has a few other…

WaHOOOOO – the NRA and OCT are going to go to war with each other. The money vs the braindead? No contest. OCT is going to succeed in making people aware of how stupid they are, and businesses are not going to like how they are affected when PAYING customers take their families and walk out when OCT comes in.

Well, no. The NRA is made up of a bunch of entrenched bureaucrats who like nothing more than to be invited to the right parties in DC. For instance, NRA did not support Hellar, the case which caused the supreme court to affirm that bearing arms is a basic civil right.

The NRA is tired, worn out and passe. But they have a billion$. So, let ’em bark, as out of touch with the membership as they are they still cause opponents of liberty to spend money counteracting their message.

Agreed there are limits on firearms. 20,000 gun control laws on the books, enforce them.

Just don’t enforce them on the back of patriots and the law abiding.

Don’t forget, Washington WAS the federal government when he used the very well regulated militia to put down the Whiskey Rebellion, (who’s participants thought THEY were the patriots.)

Meanwhile, you’re trying to get your buddies in the Tea Party elected to offices (and failing miserably for the most part since 2012). Did you ever stop to ask yourself why people who claim to hate the government so much are trying so hard to get elected to the government? Do you really think it’s because they’re such great patriots? No, it’s because they want to dismantle the government and install their own fascist leaders who benefit no one but themselves and their rich benefactors like the Koch Brothers. Don’t be so naive.

This is the proposition the people of these Colonies is up against, and they have got tired of it, and won’t stand it no more. Its a shame to see rights in the US questioned and argued on the bases of irrational acts and extreme factors alone.

This is true for all of the rights not just the right to bare arms; in the past decade (and more) we have seen various rights sacrificed to quell stupidity, to provide comfort in times of fear and to restrict expression commonly seen as in appropriate. The specific occurrences are irrelevant the relevant factor is rapid change of the rights applied to citizens.

Should they change? apparently so they are a hot topic and this usually indicates a need for change but I hope we apply calm rational thought to the process and at the moment it seems more like fear mongering, extreme knee jerk reactions and blind adherence to the usual or the popular depending on your point of view.

I do hope Americans retain the right or at least ability to own and operate arms but mostly I hope we return to a rational and practical mind set when it comes to arms, speech, censorship, etc.
