Ben Carson: VA Scandal ‘Is A Gift From God’

Posted by | May 25, 2014 11:26 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

Conservative icon and possible 2016 presidential candidate says the Veterans Administration scandal is “a gift from God.”

“I think what’s happening with the veterans is a gift from God to show us what happens when you take layers and layers of bureaucracy and place them between the patients and the health care provider,” Carson said, making the now common equivalency between the VA and the Affordable Care Act. “And if we can’t get it right, with the relatively small number of veterans, how in the world with are you going to do it with the entire population?”

Seconds later, Carson added, “We need seriousness here rather than just political speak. ‘How can I look better? How can my party look better?’ And I’m saying this to both Democrats and Republicans: Stop, and think about the people.”

The VA and the ACA. It’s apples to bowling balls. One is a government agency that administers a series of clinics and hospitals, and the other is medical insurance. I’m sitting here in a quandary trying to understand what person or group of persons would not understand that.

      Stupid, hateful people William.

That’s so kind of Dr. Carson to view the suffering and deaths of American veterans to be a “gift from God” for his Republicans. What a jerk. And what is his alternative to the Affordable Care Act? Wait, I think I know the answer. He doesn’t have one.

“We need seriousness here rather than just political speak”… Why can’t these clowns take their own advice?

Ten years of unending war has created far to many veterans who need assistance from a medical source that does not have the capacity. That has nothing to do with the ACA. Carson is just another right wing idiot, brain surgeon or not….

And you’ll also note that the VA was supposed to be there to treat service connected conditions and injuries. Now a days, they treat most everything a person that’s been in the service has wrong with him. I get my eyes checked yearly, at the VA, I get supplies for diabetes, from the VA, I got a CPAP machine, from the VA. Fine for me, as I saved a great deal of money, but that wasn’t their mission in the beginning.

The VA has taken excellent care of my husband so we cant relate to all of these accusations against the VA. I think it must be isolated cases.

Phoney analogies seem to be the stock and trade for the rabid right. Facts don’t matter, only THEIR opinion.

Carson thinks the problem is “.layers and layers of bureaucracy and place them between the patients and the health care provider,..” The problem is not enough doctors in some of the VA hospitals. The VA system isn’t perfect, but neither are private sector hospitals. Studies estimate the number of preventable deaths in hospitals at between 100,000 and 200,000 a year.
