Former Clinton Press Secretary: Hillary Wont Run

And it’s not because she has brain damage, as Karl Rove would like you to believe.  Mike McCurry says he’s willing to bet that Hillary Clinton won’t run for president.

“You seem to be convinced that Mrs. Clinton’s running. I like to say I’m the only person … the only last person in Washington who’d be willing to take some bet that she might not run,” McCurry said in a video interview with the news agency.

That puts him at odds with the other Clintonites who have lined up with the shadow campaign infrastructure that’s been built to support a presumed Hillary 2016 run.

McCurry pointed to the work Hillary is doing at the Clinton Foundation and the grueling experience of a political campaign as possible reasons that she would choose not to launch another bid.

“Because I think she’s doing terrific work, talk about … finding other ways to make a contribution,” he said. “The work she’s doing through the Clinton Foundation, she finds terrifically rewarding. I’ve heard her talk about that a little bit. She gets very excited about it.”

“We all know what running for president is like … shaking hands with a lot of sometimes less-than-interesting local political people,” McCurry continued. “She’s going to do that for the next two and a half years at age 65 when she could be doing all this great stuff on a global stage? I don’t know. I think that’s why she hasn’t said, ‘I’m doing it.'”

If Hillary runs for president I think it will be because she wants to make sure a republican doesn’t win. If a good candidate from the democratic party steps up with a good strong progressive platform and looks like they can win, I can easily see Hillary not running and supporting someone else fully so she doesn’t have to. I really don’t think her ego is wrapped up in wanting to be President.

I really wish Dems would get behind Bernie Sanders. It won’t happen though.

    Imagine a Sanders/Warren ticket.

Yes, Bernie is the real deal. He needs to be out there to pull the Democratic Party back to being on the left.

For years, my ideal candidate for President has been Sen. Sanders. But you are right, it will not happen. Realistically, at age 72 I think his time has passed. Even if he were younger, nothing would get done without a supportive Congress.

But in my perfect world, there is no one I would rather have in the Oval Office, and that includes the current occupant. It was true prior to 2008 and is still true today.

I’m with you. If it ever happened, it would be a dream come true for me. Congress might obstruct him but he would give them hell.
