Eric Cantor Booed, Heckled By Tea Partiers In His Home District

Posted by | May 12, 2014 09:30 | Filed under: Politics Top Stories

A meeting we held to elect a new committee chairman for Virginia’s 7th District, and Eric Cantor’s candidate, Linwood Cobb,  lost to the Tea Party’s Fred Gruber. It not Cantor’s day.

Tea party activists touted Gruber’s victory as a bellwether of the showdown between Cantor and his primary rival, Dave Brat. An economics professor at Randolph-Macon College, Brat is challenging Cantor from the right, picking up endorsements from a number of conservative groups. As Politico reported last month, Cantor’s camp has taken the challenge seriously despite Brat’s slim chance of victory.

The Washington Post reports:

Any sign that Cantor’s support has slipped among the region’s most active Republicans could spell a tougher challenge during next month’s election. And some of the crowd’s reaction Saturday when Cantor took a shot at Brat made clear that the Republican majority leader has not yet fully shored up support.

“When I sit here and I listen to Mr. Brat speak I hear the inaccuracies — my family’s here.” Cantor said. As he was interrupted by the raucous crowd, Cantor’s anger was evident: “That’s enough — we are a country of free speech, so decency’s also part of this.”

I was having a bad week. I feel much better after reading this. Also, I’m a bit evil.

{“That’s enough — we are a country of free speech, so decency’s also part of this.”} — Good luck with that Cantor, when the right wing gets riled up they can be very nasty. You do check out the the right wing sites don’t you Cantor? Or are you completely oblivious living in your bubble?

Was he just free speeching when he attended that covert meeting on the eve of Obama’s inauguration to vow to obstruct anything our newly minted president tries to accomplish? I love karma.

loyalty to the Koch Bros, Anomaly. Better he serve his masters than his own constituents, after all, being an Inside the Beltway Koch Sucker requires a complete servitude to the providers, does it not?

when you’re an INSIDE THE BELTWAY kinda guy, you sometimes miss the anger of your ‘back home’ constituents – even if your loyalty belongs to ‘others’ outside your home district.

Owning a gun is cool and all but after awhile the novelty wears off, and you gotta feed yourself. Dealing with fat, pssed off, middle aged racist white people ain’t fun at all is it gop? when their guns no longer bring them happiness, the gloves come off.

Don’t know who I find more revolting: Cantor or Lyin’ Ryan.

    • mea_mark May 12th, 2014 at 14:01

I think of them as two sides of the same coin.
