Hugging President Obama and then being shunned by conservatives has been good for Chris Christie.

A Fairleigh Dickenson University poll of 241 registered voters in New Jersey, taken from November 13 – 18, showed 67 percent of Garden State Democrats approving of the job Christie has done as governor. In a poll taken by FDU in mid-October, just prior to Hurricane Sandy’s devastating impact on New Jersey, only 26 percent of Democrats approved of the job Christie had done as governor.

While Republicans nationwide were vocal about their frustration with Christie’s unreserved embrace of Obama in the wake of the storm, 4 out of 5 voters surveyed said Christie’s response showed “needed cooperation and bipartisanship.”
