Sen. Lindsey Graham To Mitt Romney: “When You’re In A Hole, Stop Digging”

Add Lindsey Graham to those who are critical of Mitt Romney’s post-election comments.

“We’re in a big hole,” Graham said on NBC’s “Meet the Press. “We’re not getting out of it by comments like that. When you’re in a hole, stop digging. He keeps digging.”

Graham argued that President Barack Obama won more than 70 percent of the Latino vote because he was the “lesser of two evils,” pointing to Romney’s comments on immigration and so-called “self-deportation” as particularly toxic to the Republican Party.

“We’re in a death spiral with Hispanic voters because of rhetoric around immigration,” said Graham, who has restarted talks on comprehensive immigration reform with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). “Candidate Romney, in the primary, dug the hole deeper.”
