Friday’s report is the last before the election.

The October report is the first since ADP last week said it had overhauled its job-collecting methodology.

Separately, the number of U.S. workers filing applications for jobless benefits fell last week, an indication that the labor market may be stabilizing ahead of next week’s presidential election.

Initial jobless claims, which are a measure of layoffs, dropped by 9,000 to a seasonally adjusted 363,000 in the week ended Oct. 27, the Labor Department said Thursday. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires expected 369,000 new applications for jobless benefits.
