You Can Now Drive 85 MPH On A Texas Highway

Speed demons will be happy, if not safe, with a 41-mile stretch of road east of the Interstate 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio. Alan Guckian of Austin says,  “I would love it. Sometimes it’s fun to just open it up.”

But Russ Rader of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says, “The research is clear that when speed limits go up, fatalities go up, but the trade-off is more crashes and more highway deaths.”
