Obama Would Veto Full Extension Of Bush Tax Cuts
Press Secretary Jay Carney says the president will veto any full extension of the Bush tax cuts.
“He would not support it. He would not sign that bill,” Carney told reporters. Pressed on whether not signing meant a presidential veto, Carney said it did.
In a Monday statement, Obama called on Congress to pass a one year extension of only the middle-class and lower-income portions of tax cuts — leaving the fate of the tax cuts for upper earners making more than $250,000 annual to be decided after the election. Obama opposes those cuts, believing that they should end.
