Tareq Salahi is running to be governor of Virginia.

News of Salahi’s bid for the governorship — first reported by TMZ — came in April, after Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, who is also running for governor as a Republican, filed suit against Salahi for allegedly cheating customers who bought wine tours from his Northern Virginia company.

In his news release, Salahi criticized Cuccinelli regarding the Republican Party of Virginia’s action to switch from a primary to a convention to nominate in the 2013 statewide contests. The decision was made Friday by the Republican State Central Committee. The change was considered a victory for Cuccinelli, who supported a convention, and a blow to his main primary opponent, Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling, who supported keeping a primary.
