White House Changes Immigration Rule To Allow The Undocumented To Spend More Time With Families

Up until now, undocumented workers had to leave the country before they could ask the government to waive a 3-10 year ban on coming back to the states. A new rule would allow families to request a waiver before an immigrant goes back home.

The government received about 23,000 hardship applications in 2011 and more than 70 percent were approved, the official said.
