Russell Simmons has been outspoken about Lowe’s canceling its ads on the All-American Muslim reality show because of right-wing pressure. Now he’s bought up remaining inventory to promote his RushCard.

To recap what’s been happening, Lowe’s ad removal came after the Florida Family Association encouraged members to email the program’s advertisers. The Florida Family Association claimed that the show only portrays Muslims who are ordinary people and excludes Islamic believers with alternative agendas.

The show premiered last month and depicts the lives of five families from Dearborn, Mich., a Detroit suburb with a large Muslim and Arab-American population.

The Florida group sent three emails to its members, asking them to petition Lowe’s to pull its advertising. It’s website was updated to say that “supporters’ emails to advertisers make a difference.”

The RushCard provides financial services to millions of Americans without access to traditional banking services.
