Rick Perry Can’t Name The Three Agencies He Says He’d Close (UPDATED With Video)

Rick Perry had a debate brain freeze that will further derail his candidacy.

The Texas governor said he would abolish the federal Department of Education and the Department of Commerce. But the third one eluded him.

“Uh, uh, uh.”

He stood there for seconds that must have felt like hours with a deer-in-the-headlights look on his face.

“What’s the third one there?” he asked himself.

Only one of his competitors tried to help him out. Fellow Texan Ron Paul suggested it was the Environmental Protection Agency.

Yes, Perry quickly responded, before reversing himself.

“The third one, I can’t say. Oops!”

Later, when asked for specific cuts he’d like to propose, Perry didn’t respond directly beyond mentioning entitlements. But he did — finally — recall that pesky third agency.

“By the way, that was the Department of Energy I was thinking of.”

Oops.
