Jon Huntsman Underscores Rick Perry’s Mormon Problem

During Tuesday night’s Republican debate, Jon Hunstman took a shot at Rick Perry for not distancing himself from anti-Mormon comments from one of his ardent supporters.

“Since this discussion is all about economics, Governor Romney, I promise this will not be about religion,” Huntsman said, before adding the kicker, ”Sorry about that, Rick.”

Huntsman, who is also a Mormon, strongly denounced Pastor Robert Jeffress as a “moron” for calling Mormonism a “cult” at the Values Voter Summit, and Romney has been critical of Perry for failing to repudiate the Pastor.
