President Obama was right about Abraham Lincoln, and PBS had a perfectly legitimate reason to omit that part of the speech from the original transcript. First, Abraham Lincoln “helped establish the Republican Party” according to–the Republican Party. Second, PBS explained in its editor’s note why there was a discrepancy.
