House GOP Doug Lamborn Likens President Obama To A “Tarbaby”

While weighing in on the debt deal, Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-CO) used the term “tarbaby” to refer to President Obama while on a Denver radio show. The clip is here (h/t to Jamelle Bouie, @jbouie on Twitter, and at www.prospect.org).  Bouie says he followed up regarding the comment and subsequently issued this tweet:  “I called the congressman’s office and his communications director confirmed the quote, but didn’t offer a response.”

Lamborn is pictured presenting a Congressional proclamation to Biblica (an organization which translates and distributes Christian Bibles around the world) recognizing its 200th year of operation.  Lamborn has some other familiarity with radio issues:  he’d like NPR defunded. Perhaps he’d have a more difficult time there  getting away, unchallenged, with racist, derogatory comments.
