Sarah Palin Objects To Free Speech Rights For Westboro Protesters

Sarah Palin disagrees with the Supreme Court decision that even the deranged Westboro Baptist Church has the right to protest.

“Common sense & decency absent as wacko ‘church’ allowed hate msgs spewed @ soldiers’ funerals but we can’t invoke God’s name in public square,” Palin said via her Twitter account shortly after the Supreme Court announced the decision.

Palin disagrees with every Supreme Court justice with the exception of Samuel Alito, who had a dissenting opinion.

Justice Samual Alito was the only justice to submit a dissenting opinion, saying that the First Amendment does not protect those who launch “vicious verbal attacks that make no contribution to public debate” during “a time of intense emotional sensitivity.”

What the legal pundit Palin fails to acknowledge or understand is that you can get up in the public square an talk about God, or anything else. In fact, protecting the right of despicable speech as the Supreme Court did, makes all speech safer.  But I wouldn’t expect Palin to get that point.
