New York gubernatorial longshot GOP candidate Carl Paladino referred to Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand as Senator Chuck Schumer’s “little girl,” and the New York senators have responded.

On Friday, standing in a chilly rain at the Capitol building in Albany, Mr. Paladino once again referred to Kirsten E. Gillibrand, the state’s junior United States senator, as a “little girl” who kowtows to Senator Charles E. Schumer.

When reporters asked him at a campaign rally if he had any second thoughts about he had said the day before, Mr. Paladino characteristically did not mince his words.

“She does exactly what Schumer tells her to do, and I think if that’s the kind of government you want, well, she’d probably be very good,” Mr. Paladino said. “She follows him whatever he wants her to do. She is his little girl.”
