Washington Times Portrays Elena Kagan In Turban For Second Time

An op-ed piece by former Reagan Deputy Defense Secretary Frank Gaffney in the Washington Times in June showed Elena Kagan in a turban next to a column about how she is supposedly sympathetic to Sharia law. Now, Gaffney has written another piece fearing that a Kagan ascension to the court will result in a Sharia law “enabler” in high places. The new alarmism is because Gaffney has breathlessly discovered that Kagan, when Dean of Harvard Law, “twice (once in absentia, the other time in person) awarded the school’s Medal of Freedom to the controversial chief justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhry. Today, the thus-legitimated Justice Chaudhry is engaged in a “power grab … to impose Shariah law across Pakistan’s government.”

Accompanying the repeat Gaffney performance is another image showing Kagan in a turban, although this one is a cartoon of Kagan, so give the Times credit for additional creativity.
