NC State Rep. Bill Current’s “Reply All” Lands him in Hot Water

North Carolina state Representative Bill  Current wasn’t enthusiastic about his invitation to a celebration of women’s history at the state Museum of History. His e-mail response to the event organizers (or so he thought):

“Thanks for your kind invitation. However, I must regret for I have promised to be at the organizational meeting of the ‘White male’ history society. Sincerely, WAC.”

Oops.  Current hit “Reply All,” so pretty much the entire state House received his response.  The woman who initiated the invite, an African-American, was shocked by the response.

Ms. Jill Dinwiddie, executive director of the state Council for Women, commented that Current’s response “smacks of racism and chauvinism.”  Current’s unabashed response was that he was simply trying to be funny.

Hey Bill, I personally don’t get your humor.  Not one bit.
