Candy Crowley on CNN told Tom DeLay that Jim Bunning holding up unemployment benefits fed the image of Republicans being “an angry party of white men who don’t really care about the unemployed or the uninsured.” DeLay said Bunning was “brave” for “taking it on by himself.” DeLay made the argument that extending unemployment benefits “keeps people from going and finding jobs.”

Crowley: Congressman, that’s such a hard sell, isn’t it…that people are unemployed because they want to be.

DeLay: Well, it’s the truth, and people who live in the real world know it.
