Bush Gave Up Entertaining Because Of The War
First, Bush said he gave up golf in solidarity with the troops after he was seen teeing off after warning us of the dangers of terror.
Q: Mr. President, you haven’t been golfing in recent years. Is that related to Iraq?
THE PRESIDENT: Yes, it really is. I don’t want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf. I feel I owe it to the families to be as — to be in solidarity as best as I can with them. And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.
Now, he announces in an NBC News interview that he didn’t entertain at the White House because of the war.
Bush: We haven’t been a real social first couple. A lot of it had to do with the war. There were periods of the presidency where it was just inappropriate to be big entertainers But we had a lot of friends and family here in the White House and its been really a lot of fun.
It’s inspiring to see how our leader sacrifices.
