Why Does General Petraeus Hate America?

General David Petraeus has announced that we should talk to our enemies and that attempts are being made to engage with the Taliban in Afghanistan. 

“You’ve got to set things up. You’ve got to know who you’re talking to. You’ve got to have your objectives straight — all the rest of this stuff,” he added. “So I’m not trying to, again, get into the middle of domestic politics.”

Let’s not forget that it was the Anbar Awakening that turned the Sunnis around to help us fight al Qaeda in Iraq.  That involved not only talking with our opponents, but paying them money.  John McCain has repeatedly praised General Petraeus while denouncing Barack Obama for the very policy Petraeus supports.
