Why McCain Is Bush III

No one can explain the difference between Bush and McCain on budgets and the econony.  And Charlie Gibson had to school Sarah Palin, not just on the Bush Doctrine, but also on how how entitlements work.  She’s already shown that she doesn’t know that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac aren’t taxpayer funded.  And, as Think Progress points out, she says “efficiencies” often, when she probably means “inefficiencies”.

GIBSON: Do you talk about entitlement reform? Is there money you can save in Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid?

PALIN: I am sure that there are efficiencies that are going to be found in all of these agencies. I’m confident in that.

GIBSON: The agencies are not involved in entitlements. Basically, discretionary spending is 18 percent of the budget.

In fact, McCain might be worse than Bush III, as neither the top nor the bottom of the ticket seems to understand how the economy works.
