Milo Yiannopoulos has a really, really bad day

Posted by | February 20, 2017 19:50 | Filed under: Media/Show Business News Behaving Badly

➜ UPDATE:  Milo has quit Breitbart – before they could fire him! Details here.

Late yesterday, two video clips containing impolitic comments by racist provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos – one about sex with young boys, another in which he cracks wise about a sexual encounter he allegedly had with a Catholic priest as a child – surfaced. Here’s one of them:

Today, the pigeons came home to roost.

CPAC rescinded its invitation for Yiannopoulos to speak at their annual convention:

“I haven’t heard any indication that they are reconsidering,” Yiannopoulos told CNNMoney early Monday afternoon.

That changed less than an hour later, with the sponsor of the conference, the American Conservative Union, announcing that it had rescinded Yiannopoulos’ invitation. …

“We continue to believe that CPAC is a constructive forum for controversies and disagreements among conservatives, however there is no disagreement among our attendees on the evils of sexual abuse of children,” ACU president Matt Schlapp said in a statement.

A couple of hours later, his publisher cancelled his book:

Simon & Schuster’s imprint, Threshold Editions, sought to publish the Yiannopoulos’ memoirs. But Yiannopoulos seems to have crossed a line for the publisher, after they stood by their decision to give the controversial columnist a platform in their catalgue for two months.

”After careful consideration, [Simon & Schuster] and its [Threshold Editions] have cancelled publication of Dangerous by Milo Yiannopoulos,” tweeted Simon & Schuster spokesperson Adam Rothberg.

And he may have hit the trifecta – he faces being cashiered by Breitbart Inc.

Paging Breitbart’s Bannon. Return to Breitbart HQ now for emergency reinstatement!
DT’s GOP trainwreck pulled all of their cars off the track. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/22848d23be2581d3609311603b264f8d699e92fc9654ae5d5d9c970622abb234.jpg

You must really have to believe that you’ve lost any shred of respectability when even Brietbart wont touch you. Still Milo must think while Bannon still breathes there’s hope for even a low life like him.

A Republican sex abuser? Get in line.

Milo expressed an opinion that I and many others find repugnant. Left-wing icons Roman Polanski, Peter Yarrow, and Lena Dunham actually committed acts upon minors.

Kudos to conservatives for defending children, even if it means rejecting a conservative icon. I don’t recall liberals rejecting Polanski, Yarrow, or Dunham after their actions became public knowledge.

People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Left wing icons? where the hell did you get that from? those people are not icons of the left. Nice try loser.

And his examples are dubious. I don’t know about Peter Yarrow but the incident about Lena Dunham happened when she was seven years old!

Do conservatives think she should have been jailed for that?

This is the same logic that makes all Muslims responsible for radical terrorist, and requires them to disown them, but doesn’t require the same of Christians with regard to Dylann Roof. A pedophile is a pedophile, no matter what his political beliefs. So some conservatives came out against his opinions. Congratulations. That makes them normal.

        >> Kudos to conservatives for defending children

        How have they done that?

They consistently oppose anti-bullying legislation. Conservatives have consistently opposed laws to reduce gun deaths. Conservatives have consistently opposed laws to give children healthy air and water.

          “How have they done that?”

By disinviting the guy who was scheduled to have the longest time slot at CPAC, because of what he said. It’s called “policing your own”.

          • bpollen February 21st, 2017 at 15:40

            “It’s called “policing your own.”

On the contrary. It’s called “Covering Your ASS!”

Big deal! They only did that because, if someone found out they support a known advocate for child rape, they’d lose a lot of support (I’m talking cold, hard cash here) from their base.

      • Mike February 21st, 2017 at 15:08

While I’ll agree with you about dirt to be thrown on both sides the examples you provided are suspect, at best.

The Lena Dunham incident occurred when she was 7, so by any legal, moral, or philosophical definition you attempt to equate her actions with any type of guilt whatsoever is simply disingenuous.

Roman Polanski was ostracized from Hollywood and forced to flee to another country. No sure how that becomes support or a failure to denounce.

No idea who Yarrow is so I can’t imagine I support him.

Bottom line … what goes around comes around …it’s the cons turn to eat the sh!t sandwich.

      • bpollen February 21st, 2017 at 15:38

You BROADCAST your ignorance. Peter Yarrow was a folk singer, and is iconic on the history of folk music, but is not a left wing icon. Polanski is reviled on the left with certain rare exceptions. And Lena Dunham? Where the hell do you get your list of left-wing icons? It sure ain’t from anybody with any knowledge of the left mentality.

You have to be channelling that Hollywood Elite bs to turn these three media figures into left wing icons. It shows a shallow and facile understanding of what “left-wing” means. It isn’t “entertainment figure.” It IS things like civil rights icons. Like abolitionists. Like members of the Underground Railroad.

You really should refrain from pontificating on things you have no knowledge of. If we wanna do the “stereotyping” game you are playing, let’s look at the female “reich-wing” icons – white, blond, short skirts, hateful viewpoints. Eva Brauns. Heidi Hitlers. Barbie Bigots.

Just got worse … he resigned from Breitbart …

  7. bpollen February 21st, 2017 at 15:23

I have only recently been introduced to the effluvium that is Milo, but every time I have seen or heard him speak, the first thing that comes to mind starts with “b” and rhymes with “rich.”
