Study: 31 incidents of ‘cheating’ out of a billion votes in 14 years

There is data to show that Donald Trump’s claims of voting fraud and “cheating” during a campaign rally are not true.

Trump asked Rep. Bill Shuster (R-Pa.) to say a few words at the event. In brief remarks, Shuster warned of foul play in the state’s most populous city.

“The people in western and central Pennsylvania have to overcome what goes on down in Philadelphia,” said Shuster. “The cheating, what they do — we’ve got to make sure we’re doing the job here in central Pennsylvania.”

In a 2014 study, Loyola University Law School professor Justin Levitt found just 31 incidents of voter impersonation out of more than 1 billion ballots cast in a 14-year span.

Campaigns are allowed to appoint poll watchers on election day to observe the process for irregularities.

But Trump issued serious warnings. “We have to call up law enforcement. And we have to have the sheriffs, the police chiefs and everybody watching,” he said.

Doesn’t he know that it is the Federal Election Commission that regulates voting ?

I honestly think he doesn’t know that. Or about the states’ role or the political parties’ role.

It’s pretty clear he has no idea how voting works. His ignorance is astounding.

One thing is abundantly clear, he does not think before he opens his mouth.

So, for a fraud rate of 0.0000031%, the Rethuglicans have spent who knows how many millions of dollars and disenfranchised tens, maybe hundreds, of thousands of voters? I mean, their stated reason for all of the voter ID laws was stopping voting fraud. Somewhere I read that the majority of the tiny minority that actually did commit fraud were Republicans, figures.

The “mainstream media” need to start calling this what it is: blatant voter suppression.

Republicans are knocking tens of thousands of legitimate voters off the rolls for a crime as rare as bigfoot sightings.

It’s racist and un-American at its core.

    Trump, “This article is rigged.”

Karl Rove knows about rigging votes!

I admit I’m doing the math in my head, but wouldn’t that be a 3 ten-millionth of a percent fraud rate? .0000003%
