They were playing around with the safety lock.

Jacob Lara, 19, and his girlfriend were apparently trying to make his handgun safe at around 12.20am Friday when the weapon accidentally fired while she held it, according to investigators.

Lara was hit in the face. He was later pronounced dead at the scene…

It appears that the gun accidentally discharged while Lara and his girlfriend were talking, authorities said.

It took place while she attempted latching the gun’s safety lock,Click 2 Houston reported.

Sgt. Hector Garcia told the TV station: ‘It’s my understanding this was an accidental discharge.

‘I don’t think these individuals had experience with guns and as far as we can tell, there is no evidence there was any argument any fighting of any kind.’

No experience with guns. The perfect candidates to own one, obviously. No mention if alcohol was involved, but at 12:20 AM, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Authorities said… best leave it… unsolved.

Stupid strikes again. Car rental companies generally won’t rent vehicles to those under 25, at least not without a significant daily surcharge. That’s because they know young people make poor decisions. But conservatives demand, under the threat of armed insurrection, that practically everyone in this country, with little regard to age and no regard to mental ability, be given unfettered access to devices designed for the express purpose of killing other living creatures.

8+ years of handling, and supervising the handling, of weapons ranging from the M9 Beretta to anti-tank missile systems, and noit once have I ever seen a weapon discharge “accidentally.”

That’s because the people you deal with treat firearms for what they are: deadly weapons, not toys.

True. My experiences have also shown me that the term “ammosexual” is completely valid.

12:20 am, because it was absolutely necessary to decide to play with a loaded gun. they are, supposedly purchased for protection. if you are not in a situation where handling it is necessary to protect yourself, leave the damn thing alone. or this.

    There’s that word again, “accidental”!

12.20am gun modifications, good one. That’s why I feel that there should be an IQ test and mental health test for people who purchase guns. I’m a gun owner, and I know not to clean/modify a weapon without first disarming it. Also, I know not to play with guns when I should be sleeping…12.20am smh.
