McConnell rationalizes Trump: System will prevent ‘big mistakes’

Posted by | May 27, 2016 17:13 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

If this is the best thing you can say about your candidate, you’re in trouble.

…trying to reassure those worried about GOP nominee Donald Trump’s take-no-prisoners approach to politics, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is issuing a reminder that all commanders-in-chief face systemic and institutional “constraints” that will prevent “big mistakes.”

“Well, one thing I’m pretty calm about is that this is nowhere near the most divisive period in American history,” McConnell said in a preview of an upcoming CBS “Sunday Morning” interview. “But what protects us in this country against big mistakes being made is the structure, the Constitution, the institutions.”

“No matter how unusual a personality may be who gets elected to office, there are constraints in this country,” he continued. “You don’t get to do anything you want to.”

They tried to make Obama a one time failed President and they failed miserably! Now they are willing to let a total failure, racist, dumb ass joke of a breathin parasite destroy this country on purpose with their help. You can’t get any stupider!

i can only type for myself, but, “don’t bet on it.” are there really degrees of worse?

with almost a decade since the shrub’s terms, his record only worsens. trump is, really, a result of the whole parcel, part of that…um…….well, legacy is too nice a word…..curse….yeah…….the curse the republicans have been working on the people.

because other varieties of people began to want and insist on the rights actually guaranteed in their government’s contract with all of its people, the ruling class decided to crash the country.

i’ve watched over 50 years of it. decades of republican policies gaining the upper hand and our children dumbed down so far that we’ve come to this.

the shrub was a harbinger, a trial balloon. i don’t think the donald is any more in charge than the shrub was, which was never. on the surface it looks a lot like a michael scott joint with all of the the cringing you’d expect. behind the scenes, though, the show might as well be run by rathars.

i haven’t yet figured out the motivation. other than it ain’t at all good.

WTF would care if there’s no world left to teach history to?

Is he talking about the same system that refuses to do it’s Constitutional duty to hold hearings on supreme Court justice,? That system??

Republicans, are you listening to what your Senate majority leader McConnell is saying about your Presidential nominee, Donald Trump?

This ain’t even faint praise. It’s more on the order of, “Eh! What harm can the Donald do?”

    • fredoandme May 27th, 2016 at 19:16

it’s saying that the donald wouldn’t stand in their way, no matter what congress wants to do. let them handle this from here on out. the president can come out and wave from time to time, maybe embarrass us.

but, you just know that mitch is our friend….watch the watch….yes…..mitch is your owwwwwnnnly friend…..look how the watch sways back and forth….back and forth…..rhythmically….back and forth……do you believe you can trust mitch to protect you and your rights against greedy corporate lobbyists….yes…..you do….and you will be comforted by his words…………

      afghanistan banana stand……

if the democrats don’t come out and vote in literal droves…..ooooooo…..disengage!!!

    • The Original Just Me May 28th, 2016 at 10:56

And except for their version of Freedom of Speech.

For starters the Republican base hates politicians like Mitch McConnell.

      • ohpaleasegivemeabreak May 28th, 2016 at 13:54

So – instead – they adore and worship on a narcissistic psychopathic serial cheater and lying liar.

Makes as much sense as anything the lying liars do.

  11. Mensa Member May 27th, 2016 at 20:34

The System didn’t prefect us from GW Bush’s two disastrous wars and his collapsing the economy.

    • granpa.usthai May 27th, 2016 at 23:42

      you stole my initial thought!

  12. Larry Schmitt May 28th, 2016 at 05:17

“Unusual personality…” That’s a new way to describe Drumpf.

  13. The Original Just Me May 28th, 2016 at 10:51

Good Lord, Does that mean we will need a Republican controlled Congress to control a Republican President ?

  14. ohpaleasegivemeabreak May 28th, 2016 at 13:53

From your lying mouth comes more lies.
