Koch: Republican candidates are ‘terrible role models’

Posted by | April 24, 2016 17:28 | Filed under: Politics

That’s why Charles Koch may wind up supporting Hillary Clinton.

Branding the remaining Republican candidates ‘terrible role models’, the party donor said a Clinton presidency could be better for the GOP than a Donald Trump or Ted Cruz victory.

In a revealing interview with ABC News, Koch said it was ‘possible’ that Clinton would be better alternative than anything the Republicans offer.

I think of people like Clinton as responsible Republicans. They are what the actual GOP consistently pretends it will do. It’s nice to see someone, even a Koch recognize the competence from the other side, but I’d much rather see an actual progressive in charge for once.

Me too, but I don’t think it will happen anytime soon. The Congress will be full of GOTPers for some time to come, so no progress can be made.

Ummm, who on the republican side are good role models? I never would of thought that was a requirement from the kochs by looking at the previous elections.

It sounds to me like he is talking about personal demeanor, not their positions on the issues. In that context, only John Kasich displays the usual civility we have come to expect from candidates for President.

Imagine for a moment if Barack Obama in 2008 referred to a female employee of FOX as a Bimbo, or if a senior campaign aide had an altercation with a woman working for a conservative news site, where law enforcement was called.

Or how about being unapologetic for calling colleagues in the Senate liars. I think it illustrates a couple of things.

First of all, it graphically illustrates what a monumental pile of horsesh*t, the right wing condemnations of President Obama have been. He was arrogant. He was an elitist. He was divisive. With the exception of the public persona of Gov. Kasich, the current crop of GOP candidates is all of those things and the right wing base is wetting their pants with glee.

A crude, boorish billionaire whose idea of a policy statement is “repeal Obamacare and replace it with something terrific” and a US Senator who is mostly despised by his colleagues in his own party, are their proposed alternatives to the “elitist” “arrogant” President we have now.

More importantly, I think this campaign lays bare what I have believed for years. A significant portion of right wing America does not believe in anything other than opposing whatever leftists and progressives support. Divisiveness and elitism were convenient bogus arguments to attack a President they hate. However those very same faults are not a problem at all, as long as it is the candidate telling them exactly what they want to hear, who is divisive and elitist.

I think many modern conservatives represent the perfect paradigm for the old saying “If you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything”. They really do not stand for anything except hating liberals. No wonder they are falling for Glen Beck’s gold scams and signing up for Sarah Palin TV.

I didn’t need a Koch sucker to tell me that.

To quote (again) the great Ani DiFranco:
    For every hand extended
    Another lies in wait
Keep your eye on that one
    Anticipate

That’s how I look at anything from a Koch mouth.

It is strange that the Richest and most Devout Republican throws his support behind Clinton just before a crucial Tuesday Primary. Do you suppose he is trying to throw voters to Bernie so as to stop Hillary before she gets out of the Convention ? The Republicans know they can Stomp Bernie in the main election, but once Hillary is out of the Convention she will be packing her suitcase for the White House. This is how they operate.
