Senator Harry Reid had an accident while exercising.

According to a statement, Reid was exercising at home in Henderson, Nevada, when a piece of equipment broke and caused him to fall.

“Senator Reid was first brought to St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson by his security detail,” said the senator’s office. “He was then transferred to UMC for further testing, where he was admitted overnight as a precaution.”

Reid is expected to make a full recovery and will be in Washington Tuesday when the Senate reconvenes for the New Year.

as a former boxer, I can understand his wanting to stay in shape, but at 75, it’s a good age to think about maybe taking up a less strenuous life style?

Canadian style beer drinking might be a good one that’s age compatible.

Ouch! At his age, the old-timer should be working with smaller free weights and going for more reps, to keep toned. I’d advise getting rid of the machines and setting up a small stand of 3-10 pound kettlebells and dumbbells.

At his age, falling can be dangerous regardless of your activity.

Very true. My great-grandma fell out of bed and wound up with a broken hip. I don’t want to get old!

But it’s better than the alternative.
