Judge Rules: Oscar Pistorius Did Not Intentionally Kill Girlfriend

Oscar Pistorius was found not guilty of murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend and the court has adjourned to consider lesser charges. “Clearly he did not subjectively foresee this as a possibility that he would kill the person behind the door, let alone the deceased as he thought she was in the bedroom,” Judge Thokozile Masipa told the court as Pistorius sobbed and shook in the dock.

The New York Times reports:

After clearing the Paralympic athlete Oscar Pistorius of the gravest charges against him, the judge in his murder trial abruptly suspended the proceedings on Thursday, leaving one charge of unlawful homicide pending until a further court session on Friday.

“We’ll have to stop here and resume tomorrow morning,” Judge Thokozile Matilda Masipa said less than half an hour after hearings resumed following a lunch break. She did not explain the adjournment.

Earlier, in three hours of detailed appraisal of a trial that has transfixed many around the world and which has been compared to the O.J. Simpson case in the United States, the judge cleared Mr. Pistorius of two charges — premeditated murder, which carries a minimum mandatory term of 25 years, and a lesser charge of homcide known simply as “murder.”

Then, Judge Masipa turned to the lesser charge of culpable homicide, which is comparable to involuntary manslaughter

Withought pronouncing a verdict, she said that Mr. Pistorius had failed three tests to escape culpable homicide charges. One of the tests was what a “reasonable” person would have done under the same circumstances.

America isn’t the only country who worships their sport hero’s apparently.

Not every famous person arrested is guilty.
Thinking that they are might help you feel a little better about yourself, but probably not.
      Not really.

Have you followed this case? Do you know any of the evidence presented? You believe Pistorius is innocent?

        • LoriBelle September 11th, 2014 at 11:42

Actually, I do believe that he acted without malice. A tragedy, yes. Murder, no.

And that is your opinion which you are entitled to, as I am entitled to have mine.

I don’t feed trolls and I am not here for your entertainment, sorry to disappoint you I prefer to spend my time doing things that interest me. I will provide you with a snippet of information that I am sure you avoided and refused to read about, he was declared guilty of a lesser crime and may serve up to 15 years, so much for your declaration of innocence.

You say I’m a troll because I don’t agree with you. But you’re not because you don’t agree with me. Just want to clear this up.

Ummmmm he is innocent of murder. That was the topic of this article. He was found guilty of what we most likely call manslaughter. In any case, it should be involuntary-manslaughter. No, I wasn’t there, but I’m pretty sure he never meant to kill his girl friend.

Now tell me everything you know since you were obviously in the room.

Really doesn’t matter what I think, as I’m not charged with finding him guilty or innocent.
Like O.J Simpson and Casey Anthony, the court didn’t find him guilty of murder, and as such, he must be considered not guilty of murder. They call this “The Law”, and unless you want to go stringing up people without a trial because you believe that they’re guilty of rape, murder, speaking disrespectfully to a white woman, whatever, then you’ll just have to live with it.
This is what we call “Society”, and while it is sometimes frustratingly confusing, that’s the price you pay for not being thrown in the stockade for being a witch just because I “believe” you to be one.

You are pulling what I said in far off directions, must be fun living in your mind, but I find you tedious.

I don’t think that the verdict really surprises, anyone. Would be interesting to see; what they consider lesser charges for him.
