Coach Fired For Being Gay

Virginia Commonwealth University fired James Finley, who coached the women’s volleyball team for eight years.

…according to Finley, it’s because he is gay and new athletic director Ed McLaughlin doesn’t approve. The team finished 3rd in their first Atlantic 10 Conference with a stellar 25-6 record overall, and the players had a perfect graduation score. Nevertheless, McLaughin allegedly said they “wanted to go in a different direction” with “someone to better represent the school.”
