Student Pummeled In Bar Fight For Supporting Obama

Angel Moreno (l), a student at SUNY Oswego, is in critical condition after a fight in an upstate New York bar, sparked by the words “F— Obama.”  According to a friend of Moreno identified only as “Joel”, Kevin T. Flanagan (below), an army private at Fort Drum, “got in his face.”

“[Moreno] was pretty proud of [being an Obama supporter], and I’m guessing he tried to stick up for him,” Joel said. “He was debating them and his friends didn’t find it that serious.

“But the Army guy took it to the point where they got in his face,” added Joel, 21, who said he was not at the bar when the fight erupted but heard the account from witnesses.

“He was sucker-punched . . . That one punch brought him down and he hit his head on the ground.”

Flanagan was arrested, arraigned, and remanded on $5000 bail.  Moreno’s friends are stunned.

“He was really respectful, very polite. He never started any trouble, never looked for any trouble,” said a longtime neighbor who asked that her name not be printed. “He’s a good kid – the whole family is a good family.”
