Mitt Romney says he’ll compete in Iowa, but not be part of the Ames poll. But Greg Sargent points out his campaign presented a different view four years ago:

“Campaigns that have decided to abandon Ames are likely doing so out of a recognition that their organizations are outmatched and their message falls flat with Republican voters in Iowa.”
