Wallace To Santorum On Climate Change: ‘You’re Not A Scientist’

Rick Santorum criticized Pope Francis for highlighting climate change, complaining that he’s not a scientist. Chris Wallace reminded Santorum that neither is he.

Wallace noted that the pope actually had scientific training — while Santorum had none.

“If he’s not a scientist — and in fact, he does have a degree in chemistry — neither are you?” Wallace said. “The second point is that somewhere between 80 and 90 percent of the scientists that have studied this say that humans, human activity contributes to climate change.”

“So, I guess the question would be if he shouldn’t talk about it, should you?” the Fox News host added.

“Well, we have to make public policy with regard to the environmental policy,” Santorum insisted.

“But you’re not a scientist,” Wallace interrupted. “You said leave science to the scientists.”

“Politicians, whether we like it or not, people in government have to make decisions with respect to our policy that affect American workers,” Santorum remarked.

    You know the BS is deep when Santorum cannot even wriggle out of it on FOX.

    Santorum says, in order to rationalize his blatant hypocrisy in telling the Pope to shut up

    Seems to me then that when making policy, politicians and people in government, WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT should abide by the consensus view of over 80% of the experts in the field who are scientists.

      Good points! We need to remember that when the GOP/TPers in Congress were tying to write a bill to restrict women’s choices of contraception a few years ago, they invited only males to testify.

    So Santorum believes that discussions of scientific matters should be left to the scientists … unless the scientific evidence conflicts with the political agenda of the Republican Party … in which case anyone who discusses said scientific evidence should be ridiculed and denounced …. and the science itself should be ignored when establishing relevant public policy.

    The last time he ran for an office more than 200 dollars were spent for every vote that he garnered…….and it didn’t work then and doesn’t work now. Ignorance has always been a poor investment.

    what cracks me up is he is saying “to leave it to the scientists”. But the scientists are saying that global warming is predominately man made, but they don’t believe them
