YNET: U.S. intel officials tell Israel not to share info with Trump admin

They’re worried the information will be shared with Russia and Iran.

The intelligence concerns, which have been discussed in closed forums recently, are based on suspicions of unreported ties between President-elect Donald Trump, or his associates, and the government of Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

As Russian intelligence is associated with intelligence officials in Tehran, highly classified information, such as Israel’s clandestine methods of operation and intelligence sources, could potentially reach Iran. Such information has been shared with the United States in the past.

American intelligence officials expressed despair at the election of Trump during a recent meeting with their Israeli counterparts, [journalist Ronan] Bergman reported. They said that they believed that Putin had “leverages of pressure” over Trump, though they did not elaborate. The American media reported on Wednesday that Russia has embarrassing intelligence about the president-elect.

When you consider the fact that Trump doesn’t listen to anybody . . . this story is not really a big deal.

The main question is whether we and the world will survive a US president who doesn’t know anything.

I think the US intel is thinking the same thing…

I can see most of Americas allies holding back intel for much the same reason

Assuming intelligence officials are concerned – going around PEOTUS is wrong, like seditious wrong. No, no, no.

Agreed. And all of this leaking from intelligence agencies does not exactly raise my confidence in them. I suspect that Israeli officials have the same concerns. Never mind Trump. They have to be wondering whether they can trust OUR INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES to keep secrets!

you didn’t give a rats ass though when they leaked out lies against Hillary. hypocrite much?

Actually, I said at the time, in this forum, that I was concerned about how media outlets were broadcasting private conversations. John Podesta had an expectation of privacy when he wrote his e-mails. Donald Trump had an expectation of privacy when he was on the bus. I don’t think that reputable media outlets should be broadcasting conversations that were believed to be private at the time. Trump never claimed that the audio was doctored, and Podesta never claimed that the e-mails were altered. But both men had an expectation of privacy at the time they wrote those things. We have wiretapping laws to protect people’s privacy. The same principle should apply to all private conversations that are obtained by a third party without the knowledge or consent of the speakers or writers. Sure, there’s always going to be someone who posts these things on the internet. But reputable media outlets like CNN should not be broadcasting these things to an even wider audience. I am not defending Hillary or Podesta or Trump per se. I am defending a principle.

The same principle applies to intelligence data. If anyone in the media is provided with intelligence information that was “leaked” by an unfaithful member of an intelligence agency, that media person should report the leaker to his superiors and return the information. Otherwise, the media person is effectively helping to undermine public and international confidence in the trustworthiness of these organizations. It was true in WWII and it is still true today: Loose lips sink ships.

no he didn’t. furthermore, lets go with even if tRump had an expectation of privacy, the FACT that you were then aware he admitted to sexually assaulting women and the fact that 13 came forward, the fact that it was known that he would walk in on teen girls naked, never bothered you is what’s disturbing. the FACT that you have the audacity to defend that and him is completely disgusting. regardless of how the information was obtained. and remember, he was in an interview and they usually are always mic-ed up. the FACT that he thought it was ok to discuss as if there’s nothing wrong with it is disturbing.

I never stated any intelligence agency leaked anything and I have no reason to believe (at this moment) that leaks are occurring from these agencies. These leaks are coming from outside sources.

    • whatthe46 January 14th, 2017 at 18:41

i’m not going to say it’s wrong in tRumps case. he’s a danger to this country and others and he will NOT keep any intel to himself and consider he bashes them over russia, yes it’s a legit concern.

      • Carla Akins January 14th, 2017 at 20:14

Nope. It cannot work that way. As things currently stand, Trump is the duly elected incoming President – regardless of how we feel about him. For the intelligence agencies to circumvent the office of the President and deal directly with a foreign country – asking them to not give the same intelligence?????

Sweet jesus and treason in a jar. That is utter insanity. What if 8 years ago , these sames agencies decided Obama was a Muslim so they decided to circumvent the intelligence information he received. How would you feel then?

We have a process, a country designed by and governed by rules, laws and regulations. These can never, ever, ever be pushed aside for an opinion. There are legal ways to deal with a problem and that ain’t it.

        • whatthe46 January 14th, 2017 at 22:30

well, there will be times when we disagree. i respect your opinion. but, when you have someone who will become the illegitimate pres of this country, who has shown time and time again that his allegiance is not that of his own country, but, with foreign dictators, we have a problem. when your position as “pres” becomes compromised, then yeah, i’m ok with him not getting info that could help our enemy against our allies.

        • whatthe46 January 14th, 2017 at 22:32

it would be different if there was no evidence of treason or compromise, just done out of pure hate, like the media and others did with Obama and Hillary, but, this isn’t the case. and for that POS to denounce our own intelligence agencies to side with putin, is a big RED FLAG that he cannot be trusted.

          • Carla Akins January 15th, 2017 at 05:59

I agree, there is so very many things but we can only work with what we can prove – those things that we have hard evidence. The most glaring is the conflict of interest – although 18 U.S.C. Section 202 makes the President & VP exempt.

Yet the “Emoluments Clause,” which says that “no person holding any office of ”” the United States “shall, without the consent of the Congress, accept of any present, emolument, office, or title, of any kind whatever, from any king, prince, or foreign state.” The problem here is that Congress has to initiate the move.

Regardless, a government intelligence agency approaching a foreign government in an effort to avoid a (soon-to-be) duly elected President is beyond treason. I don’t care of the POTUS has been inhabited by space aliens.

But I thought Bibi was a Trumper Bumper…

  6. Carla Akins January 15th, 2017 at 05:50

you are right, but we cannot allow ourselves to become one of them. We cannot circumvent the law to achieve our goals.
