Alabama congressman: Sessions facing a ‘war on whites’

Click here for reuse options!Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) said accusations of racism against Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), Donald Trump’s attorney general nominee, stem from Democrats’ ongoing “war on whites.”
“It’s really about political power and racial division and what I refer to, on occasion, as the ‘war on whites,’” he said on WBHP 800 Alabama radio, as first reported by CNN Wednesday. “And the Democrats are not shy about lying in order to achieve their political goals.”
“And if they have to besmirch the reputation of a good man, Jeff Sessions, in order to achieve their political goals, they, as a group, are not hesitant to do so,” Brooks said.

That’s funny. I’m white, and I don’t feel like anyone is warring on me. I think Mo has been dipping a bit heavy into the white privilege lately.

That’s because you haven’t been to Alabama lately. It’s terrible down there. I hear they have black people walking around the streets, free as birds. And get this … they don’t have “whites only” bathrooms and restaurants anymore. Mo Brooks has it right (I mean zeig heil far right). This is truly a “war on white people”.

I appreciate your explanation, but here in the Washington area we have plenty of black people (and brown and every other color that people come in) walking around, and there still doesn’t seem to be any war going on. I think the problem is in poor Jeffy’s pointy little head.

Yes, but although 48 states have moved into the 21st century, Alabama (and Mississippi) is still living in the 1600’s.

crazy right? those white kids that decided to NOT attend the desegregated prom lost out big time. the ones that did attend, had a blast. the difference in the prom was amazing. and what’s crazy is that they had a committee meeting to decide if they would allow it.

Some of the parents justify the segregated proms with a very lame “It’s tradition.” Slavery used to be a tradition too. Putting people in stocks was a tradition. Essentially they’re saying “We’ve always done it that way.” If everyone thought that way, nothing would ever get done.

I can’t think of a time when my white status cost me a job or housing. The same for my Christian status. I’m at an age where that may have been a factor in job interviews but it’s hardly a “war.”
