Obamacare repeal would crush California economy

Posted by | January 7, 2017 10:11 | Filed under: Economy News Behaving Badly Politics

The fate of Obamacare now lies in the hands of Republican lawmakers who have made it a priority to dismantle the healthcare law. If it’s repealed, millions of people who were covered under the Affordable Care Act for the first time ever could no longer have access to healthcare, but a new report shows the impact…

I want the republicans to repeal it right now. I say rip the band-aid off and make the idiots who voted for rump realize they will pay for their blind support.

    • mea_mark January 7th, 2017 at 12:16

Maybe they will do it next week when the GOPers will be trying to pull a fast one on America and limit scrutiny of their actions … http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2017/01/05/dems_confirmation_hearings_schedule_limits_scrutiny_132726.html

Diversion and deflection in a time of lots of activity will easily confuse and befuddle their base. They will be able to do what they want without having to worry about what their base thinks about it. By the time the idiots figure out what’s going on, it will be too late.

These fools will be in concentration camps and still wear their red hats in support of their dictator.

  2. Foundryman January 7th, 2017 at 10:46

What is certain is the fact no republican will believe this report or believe they had anything to do with a crashed economy after they do scrap it. They will, just like they have always done before is have a scapegoat to blame.

    • Larry Schmitt January 7th, 2017 at 11:03

They care about California less than they care about Mexico. It’s a blue state, and they voted for Hillary. This is not the United States anymore to them. The blue states may as well be foreign countries.

      • mea_mark January 7th, 2017 at 12:19

It’s still a source of tax revenues they will lose though. They will be shooting themselves in the foot, again, for umpteenth time.

        • Sy Colepath January 7th, 2017 at 18:57

Loss of revenue and rising debt are only important when a Democrat is residing in the White House, don’t ya know.

Governor Jerry Brown will launch his own CaliforniaCares HC saving $3 T GDP. ‘If Trump bans NASA climate change research’ “We’ll launch our own damn satellites!” http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/12/14/california_climate_science/

    • Jimmy Fleck January 7th, 2017 at 14:53

California should launch their own free healthcare system paid for by the people of California. Lead the nation in showing how this can be done for less than what is currently being spent on healthcare and how everyone will love it.

      • Obewon January 7th, 2017 at 15:45

You’re Greedy, Cheap & too ignorant to know all top 40 OECD nations have universal HC except “Pussy grabber”-Trump’s United States of ignorance.

“done for less “-debunked by CBO: ‘The ACA reduces federal deficits $1.5 T+’ And ‘reduced expected Medicare expenses $1.07 T.’-CBO. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/4dc007c5cb78c242340d17ebc90e93e98ba0308f25eb2e188add1fe66cb481e3.jpg https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a70b3291560cf9c3cd21dbca66ca8cb79296f82e2ada833802891663f71dd093.jpg

I am all in favor of universal healthcare if it can be done for less than what I currently pay for healthcare expenses. This would include my premiums, co-pays, deductibles, and my Medicare taxes. I can tell you that the ACA definitely raised my costs so that is not the answer to healthcare in my opinion.

          • Obewon January 7th, 2017 at 19:19

Universal HC reduces costs by 20%. NYC’s ACA cost is a mere $350/mo without any subsidy, down from $1000/mo+ before ObamaCare. NJ charges $604/mo for the same coverage because Repigliklan Guber Christie refused Medicare expansion.

You’ve already had cheap HC, but your GOP only hurts people.

            • Jimmy Fleck January 9th, 2017 at 11:07

If there is no subsidy in the prices above then why would it matter if one state accepted expanded Medicare and another did not?

              • Obewon January 9th, 2017 at 20:02

                (R) Guber Christie HC.gov unsubsidized Bronze Jersey City $604/mo.
                (D) Governor Cuomo HC.gov unsubsidized Bronze NYC $350/mo.

Looks like a good reason to allow insurance policies to be sold across state lines.

                  • Obewon January 10th, 2017 at 10:25

Try again to figure out why you greedy Repubs kill American children, coveting oil and coal polluters, disenfranchising voters.

You always fail to provide anything realistic e.g. “Get a ( NJ HC.gov and a NYC ) quote on $100K+ income for your age. What prices did you find?” Lazy teabagger.

                    • Jimmy Fleck January 10th, 2017 at 10:50

Why would you even need to provide an income figure if the quotes are based on not having a subsidy?

                    • Obewon January 10th, 2017 at 12:54

Again you failed: Where are your quotes?
You’re obviously embarrased by blue state & 500 blue county income delivering 64% of U.S. Record $19 T current dollar GDP growing +4.4% APR.

USA average income is $59,000. Subsidies maybe available for upto 4x poverty rate. Income is how subsidies are calculated. Your extreme ignorance must be bliss.

                    • Jimmy Fleck January 10th, 2017 at 14:51

So the policy quotes are subsidized or not? You have me very confused.

                    • Obewon January 10th, 2017 at 15:02

Can you post 2 HC.gov quotes listing $100k income for a single 58 year old male no kids in 1) Nj? & 2) NYC?You’re obtuse. Needing a navigator?

                    • Jimmy Fleck January 10th, 2017 at 15:52

No. when I go to the site and enter NY then it redirects me to the NY website and you have to put in a NY address which I don’t care to try to make up. If the prices are different based on your income then that implies there is a subsidy involved in the premiums. If the prices are simply different due to one being in NY and one being in NJ then that points to differences in the insurance markets of each state. This could be addressed somewhat by letting insurance agents sell policies across state lines as recommended by some legislators.

                    • Obewon January 10th, 2017 at 20:11

See above: “NYC’s ACA cost is a mere $350/mo without any subsidy, down from $1000/mo+ before ObamaCare. NJ charges $604/mo for the same (unsubsidized) coverage”.
I preemptively did, & posted your homework knowing you’d fail.

                    • Jimmy Fleck January 10th, 2017 at 22:19

OK, so if there is no subsidy involved why shouldn’t a citizen of NJ be able to purchase the insurance from an agent in NY for the NY cost? You seem to think the difference is somehow due to NY being run by a Democrat while NJ has a Republican governor. That would only make a difference if the government were somehow subsidizing the costs of the insurance in NY and not in NJ.

                    • Obewon January 11th, 2017 at 00:03

States rights, laws, etc. But more obviously care is locallized closest to where you live. Out of your providers network maybe included via ACA!

Those “on my first day in office pledges tend to turn around and bite you in the ass.

Governor Schwartz beggar pledged to cut the car tax on his first day which he was successful in doing..

Which led to a huge deficit t problem the entire time of his reign.
