Dems go gloves off: Trump will ‘Make America Sick Again’

Posted by | January 4, 2017 13:29 | Filed under: Politics

Thank you, Leader Schumer – more like this, please!

Democrats can’t stop the Republicans from gutting the Affordable Care Act…

Note to : I wouldn’t count on that happening. Prehaps you should read the entire story first.…so they want to make sure Donald Trump and the GOP take the full blame for any blow-back of and when the health-care system comes apart.

Their message: Trump wants to Make America Sick Again.

Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) unveiled a new slogan Wednesday after an extensive closed-door strategy meeting with President Obama. Schumer and Pelosi plan to attack the GOP plan to repeal and replace Obama’s signature domestic policy achievement as an attempt to dismantle the entire health-care system, including Medicare and Medicaid, according to a copy of the memo obtained by the Washington Post.

“Instead of fulfilling their promise to ‘repeal and replace’ the Affordable Care Act, Republicans are going to make America sick again by offering no health care plan to the American people and actually dismantling Medicare, Medicaid as well as the ACA,” the memo reads.

The Grey Lady had more choice comments from Schumer:

Mr. Schumer said Republicans would have to own the health care system. He said Democrats would consider working with Republicans on a replacement only after they presented their own plan.

“If you are repealing, show us what you’ll replace it with, then we’ll look at what you have and see what you can do,” Mr. Schumer said.

Later, Mr. Schumer said of Mr. Trump, “It’s his and their responsibility plain and simple — name calling isn’t going to get anything done,” adding “they really need to calm things down a little.”

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi had a few words of her own:

Representative Nancy Pelosi, the House Democratic leader, said Democrats assured Mr. Obama that they would not back down. Of the Republicans, she said, “to repeal without replacing it is just an act of cowardice.”

Government is about half the health insurance market with Medicare, Medicaid and the VA. This is why the health insurance market is not functioning like a normal market in any other industry.

Get government out of the health insurance business as much as possible. Limit them to limited regulation and financial support for health insurance to those who need it.

Obamacare, Medicaid, Medicare and VA hospitals should be phased out. People under these programs and those who are financially below the poverty level should be given a yearly amount that they could use to purchase health insurance.

Keep the federal regulation stating that insurance companies have to cover pre-existing conditions as long as the person had previous insurance.
Allow people to purchase insurance from any state. Deregulate state health insurance markets. Unhinge medical insurance from employers in the tax code.

Getting government out and increasing competition in this way will lower health insurance costs. It cuts the bureaucracy costs, cuts the fraud costs and improves competition and quality of care.

Cut and paste is boring, how about you try real hard, close your eyes, grunt and see if you can produce an original thought.

    • Red Mann January 4th, 2017 at 15:16

Typical, no worries about the millions that simply can’t afford to pay for decent health care, just let the magical Free Market decide.
Give a bunch of old people money so they can go shop on their own in a very complex market. That, of course, will bring out the scammers to “help” them.
Your naive ideas will rise the suffering and misery levels to stratospheric highs.

Rabid republicans don’t give a fu*k about anybody but themselves…
or whoever they’re told to care about which ever comes first.

Nah, how about getting insurance out of health care? Supporting insurance you are saying that health care should be a for profit industry…very compassionate of you.

Liberals, and Democrats in America along with the rest of the western industrialized civilized world disagree with you.

Even right wing hero, the late Margaret Thatcher in a tough political campaign where Tories were struggling to retain control of the government, had to promise that the British single payer health care system, the NHS was safe in Tory hands.

libertarians are quite happy having somebody else pay for it
          FOR them.
republicans are ok with poisoning people with lead, arsenic, PCB’s…
whatever could be considered too costly regulations.

    • William January 4th, 2017 at 14:50

That’s a real nice right wing cut and paste…but.
      Fact:
The very first act of this new Republican Congress was to gut the ethics commission that investigates Congressional corruption. The GOP is off to a good start. A party leader who admits to being a sex offender and absolutely no idea https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/ce1cc0c44c67fc7cee2cb80cf0acec324d159e9360d0eff9d6dd1242aca0a21c.jpg of what they are doing. Good job GOP.

    • Larry Schmitt January 4th, 2017 at 14:52

They demonize republicans by quoting their exact words.

    • Charlie Seivard January 4th, 2017 at 15:39

The country is already sick of this hot air. They proved it by voting.

I fixed your post to more accurately reflect actual events instead of talk radio bullsh*t.

      You’re welcome…

And don’t even think about claiming that the GOP does not demonize the rich when it suits them.

      George Soros
      Barbara Streisand
      Ted Turner
      etc.

now, go away and come back when you have an opinion based on reality.

  6. arc99 January 4th, 2017 at 20:47

I would wager that any plan the GOP comes up with would restore the health benefits for members of Congress and staff that are not available to the general public.

If you will recall, one of the criticisms of the ACA was that Congress was exempt. Right wingers said it was unfair to impose requirements on the general public that Congress did not have to adhere to. Of course the Congressional exemption was a blatant lie, right up there with death panels. Members of Congress were required to obtain insurance through the exchanges.

So let’s see if they express that concern when they resume their own top of the line health insurance benefits available to no one else, as they hand out worthless vouchers for the rest of America.

their time will be better spent pushing through an appropriate pay for military personnel bill so it’ll be the first bill signed by the great orange COWARD.

there is no plausible reason in the new government of trump why a basic recruit (whose life may be placed on the line to protect the new government of trump) should receive one cent less than the benefits package of the highest paid employee in the new government of trump who might be as much a COWARD as the leader.

republicans who support the military SHOULD already be supporting appropriate pay for military personnel – it’s not only the right thing to do, it’s also the safest thing for the new government of trump, lest the great orange COWARD leader’s first act be to unconditionally surrender to the DPRK.
