Claims to be ‘world’s oldest man’ at 146

There’s some doubt about whether he was born New Year’s Eve 1870.

In May 2010 it was reported that the year’s census in Indonesia recorded him at 142 years old.

Despite this, his family is adamant he is 146 and a birthday party was held in his honour.

His grandson and grandson’s wife came to celebrate with their children Erika Kurniawati and Anisa Kurniawati.

He has outlived all 10 of his siblings as well as his four wives, the last of whom died in 1988.

Looks like a living mummy but props to him living that long!

Maybe so, but I don’t wanna hang around that long. All your friends are gone, most of your family, you can’t do anything. At some point it’s time to go.

trying to get some of us old timers feeling guilty ain’t going to work.

we’re happy to wake up alive instead of waking up dead (which some day sooner is sure to be) makes me feel good to take that breath of life in the morning – almost as much as a hot shower and hot cup of coffee!

    wouldn’t doubt it.

lots of Asians have extended life spans due to many different things, – location , food, stress level, usually the country folk who live near water.

would be interesting to hear his experience of the Krakatoa Eruption of 1888.

I lived in Asia for a long time and heard these kinds of claims fairly often– almost exclusively from uneducated villagers.

    I never believed them:

    1) Hardly any have records of their birth.
    2) Few know even rudimentary math.
    3) They can get confused by the Islamic. Chinese and Western calendar systems. (me,too!)
    4) They probably can’t read a calendar, anyway.

I’m not saying this to be judgmental. These are salt of the earth people. But numbers aren’t their main strength.
