            The Electoral College is a process, not a place. The founding fathers established it in the Constitution as a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens.

      But this is supposed to be one country. It’s the president of the entire United States we vote for, not the president of the blue states or red states. In Virginia, the north is mostly Democratic, but sometimes a Republican governor is elected. He’s still the governor of the whole state.
