Republicans may have us saying goodbye to Medicare

It’s only one of the most popular government programs ever.

Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), the chairman of the budget committee, told reporters on Thursday that Republicans are eyeing major changes to Medicare in 2017.

Price, who is being floated as a possible Health and Human Services Secretary in the next administration, said that he expects Republican in the House to move on Medicare reforms “six to eight months” into the Trump administration.

He also noted that Republicans are eyeing using a tactic known as budget reconciliation to make the change. That process allows Republicans to pass bills with a simple majority in the U.S. Senate…

Republicans plan to tackle the Affordable Care Act in the first budget reconciliation process, which could take place as early as January. Tackling Medicare reform and Obamacare repeal at the same time could prove too high a risk for Republicans who have yet to reveal a clear plan to replace Obamacare with.

    Their solution? Soylent Green.
We need powerful voices to stop this madness. Keep the heat under all members of Congress to protect the citizenry.

How soon till the right does like in that movie; find some guy who’s real hard up for money and have him go out and take out your political opponent.

That is going to make America great again ?!?

if they and the media say so, then it MUST be, right?

  3. granpa.usthai November 17th, 2016 at 14:05

the republican plan is to squeeze the citizenry dry while waving the flag and calling themselves ‘patriots’ even though their records show them to be nothing more than thieving COWARDS.

I think this is bluster and hot air, not as much will change as people think, if they go after SS and Medicare and Medicaid and the ACA, just wait till the next election, the right will have another repeat of 06 & 08

Once these programs are gone, they will never come back

It would a great excuse to replace it all with single payer and #BasicIncome when the GOP gets voted out.

      • Buford2k11 November 17th, 2016 at 16:30

that is only if we can survive this onslaught…

They will have another repeat of 06 and 08.

It is only of small consolation that the petulant rubes who voted for Trump will be hardest hit by this and other tricks Trump and the Republicans have up their sleeves. All of us will suffer at the hands of President of the Minority Trump.

This is related, from a couple days ago. Included in the story is a link to another story showing that Ryan’s claim that Medicare is going broke is a lie. Now why am I not shocked by that?

The republican health plan: When you get old, die. You’ll save us all a lot of money.

    • Willys41 November 17th, 2016 at 20:55

Get sick, get injured, just die. At any age.

The cancer of right-wing republican extremists must run its course. It’s the only way. And maybe it will be the end of America or the whole human race. Time will tell.

Tom Price is my “representative” who is the poster boy for term limits. He is a despicable man who is a medical doctor, but cares not a whit about people who need medical care. It looks like Grump is going to appoint cretins to his cabinet who are diametrically opposed to what their department is chartered to do.

The America that many know now will cease to exist come January

They love to phase these programs out but dammit, I say just end the damn program. This hurts younger generations who normally vote for democrats. If the typical republican voter (white guy in his mid 80’s) faced the repercussions of a republican president, maybe more would wake up and realize their votes hurt all of us.

    • whatthe46 November 18th, 2016 at 01:48

they do know Suzanne. they don’t care. if it hurts one minority, then they are for it. plain and simple.

Say goodbye to Medicare, Social Security, Americans with Disabilities Act, the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, food stamps — you name it.

Say “Sieg Heil!!” to our Glorious Leader the Trumpfuhrer!!!

Pu**y Grabber In Chief is going to regret everything he does in due time. Karma can be nasty sometimes….

    • whatthe46 November 18th, 2016 at 01:48

      it’s already started.

      • crc3 November 18th, 2016 at 09:11

Not enough yet. I want Pu**y Grabber In Chief to regret the day he ever ran and won (which he didn’t)….

        • whatthe46 November 18th, 2016 at 09:45

you’re right. i think he has regretted it thought the moment he realized all the sh!t he’s ever done wrong started coming to light. now he’s also realized that he wasn’t loved as much as he thought. must have been blissful living in that bubble for 70 yrs and to all of a sudden realize what people actually think of you, i would imagine is a difficult pill to swallow. a massive dose of fk you sideways.

The fools in the redneck states with GOP governors will be hurt the most, and they deserve it.
