Gruber: Trump can only make Obamacare worse
MIT Professor Jonathan Gruber, who worked on both Romenycare and Obmacare, told me Donald Trump would only make Obamacare worse if he retains care for preexisting conditions but eliminates the rest of the plan.
Dr. Gruber explained to me on radio that the basic principle of Obamacare is to make sure people aren’t “one bad traffic accident from bankruptcy,” which makes it a success. He maintains that Obamacare has its roots in Republican politics and the Heritage Foundation to begin with, and that President-Elect Trump can do very little to make Obamacare better, but there is plenty he can do to make it worse. For example, insurance companies can get around the preexisting provision be refusing any coverage to someone, or can charge an outrageous rate.

Nobody can make obamacare worse. It has already cost American consumers over $1 trillion in higher premiums and deductables that shift all but the most catastrophic costs from the insurance companies to the customers. And even with this the insurance companies are dropping out of the exchanges because they are losing money. Obamacare is collapsing under its own weight.

No, it won’t Nobody saw their premiums go down $2500 a year. Everybody is paying more. They play this game where they dont mention the fact that single policy has astronomical deductables now so people effectively DON’T ACTUALLY USE THEIR INSURANCE. They also don’t mention that there is no 100% coverage anymore. The most any of the exchange plans pay is 80% the bronze plans pay 60%. My friends Wife died of cancer in 2006. The total amount the insurance company paid was about $120,000+ for surgery, Chemotherapy, about a dozen admissions to the hospital for infections, during chemo,(Chemo destroys your immune system after about a year), Their out of pocket costs were a few thousand $ If they were on an obamacare bronze plan they would be on the hook for $45,000
Even on the highest level plan they would owe $25,000.
