It is not just a Twitter joke. Californians are seriously considering seceding from the United States after Donald Trump went from being the Republican nominee to President-elect. A group called Yes California Independence Campaign is holding an event in Sacramento on Wednesday, hoping to garner more support for Calexit, named after Brexit, the July referendum in…

Grow up … there’ll be another election in 4 years.

I’m too old for that kind of logic.

What good will that do? Fool me…

Trump might cancel it. He wanted to cancel this one.

This is as stupid as the talk of Texas seceding. It’s not happening. When they say sixth-largest economy in the world, that would only be true if California were already an independent country. If it became independent overnight, a lot of the economy would revert to the United States. And the military and Federal economic activity would leave. So it’s all based on soap bubbles.

I agree with you BUT,I have always considered Northern Cal. as a place to live.It might become real inviting.

I believe a provision was written into the state constitution that would allow them to split into two states.

        • The Original Just Me November 9th, 2016 at 08:50

There has been that kind of talk. but it seems to dissipate.

          • Larry Schmitt November 9th, 2016 at 08:57

I don’t think it would ever happen, but it’s in there. And I heard once that the Texas constitution allows them to break up into five separate states. But neither one allows them to secede from the Union, because that’s not up to them.

so what? maybe a small quiet country is better than a loud garbling piece of orange detritus.

  3. granpa.usthai November 9th, 2016 at 09:42

oh come on, guys, and miss all the fun?

the orange loudmouth LYING COWARD became the savior of angry fearful white people last night.

the LYING white evangelical republican conservative christian now has an orange savior who’s new plan of salvation is to grab a woman by the p*ssy.

and the now completely UNTRUSTWORTHY FBI (central hiding place of the Giuliani Crime Syndicate) is, well, for a loss of better words, defunct. WTF is going to be stupid enough to believe any of their “most pressing ‘confidential’ information anymore.

BETRAYAL OF THE REPUBLIC has it’s consequences – there are many many ways it will unfold – the end is not yet, and think how exciting it will be to see WTF happens when the American Resistance Fighters go full force after these fascist bastards!

Just keep a track of all of donald’s LIES (beginning with his tax returns) and think of all the beautiful conservative christian pictures of his lovely fake German wife that must be out there in the less than free lands of America. May be the first time the conservative christian children actually see a woman’s breast nipple, and won’t that be something? (nice show and tell sermon there for sure).

What a ‘booming’ economy awaits them! – with paychecks beyond anyone’s imaginations!

    unless….. KABOOM!

This is exactly why we lost, no commitment. We need to set up a plan and start working hard to retake the House and Senate in two years, not whine about splintering and running away.

Campaign launched to put CA secession on Nov. ballot Mar 02, 2016.

A string of failures: Californians’ rogue experiments with independence have a habit of attracting more notice than support. With his Six Californias (10 New Repub CA Senators) initiative, Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Draper “spent $5.2 million on signature-gathering, but couldn’t come close to the needed number of voter autographs,” the Los Angeles Daily News recalled. “It was the worst failure in the modern era for any proposed citizen initiative with respectable financial support.” Only the longstanding effort to carve a rural statelet from southern Oregon and Northern California has kept up a trace of momentum; advocates “took their proposed secession plan to the Legislature early this year, where it got a modicum of press coverage but was never taken seriously,” according to the Daily News. http://calwatchdog.com/2016/03/02/ca-group-wants-yes-on-secession/
